Terms and Conditions of Service

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, the User declares that they wish to use the online medical consultation service operated by MNN Médico na Net, Lda, via the website mediconanet.co.uk.

The User agrees that, by registering as an authorised User of the site, he/she declares that he/she is of legal age or is the legal guardian of the minor or accompanied adult that the User has registered, and is resident in national territory.

In the event that, for any reason, they do not agree with its content, the User undertakes to terminate access to and/or use of our services immediately.

The User undertakes not to register or use our services for anyone other than themselves.

Services available:

Mediconanet.pt provides online services for medical consultations and prescriptions and complementary tests by questionnaire, allowing access to health professionals via videoconference.

The User will be assessed in a personalised way, taking into account the clinical history and health data they provide.

The services provided include video medical consultations, with prior booking, prescriptions or complementary tests using a questionnaire reviewed and validated by a doctor.

Medical consultation by video or telephone:

After making an appointment, the patient is welcomed by a team of doctors and nurses, experienced professionals duly accredited by the Order of Physicians and the Order of Nurses.

Medical prescriptions, complementary tests and certificates:

The User answers a clinical questionnaire, drawn up using all the requirements of best medical practice, which will then be validated by a doctor who will determine the feasibility of issuing prescriptions and/or medical examinations. Authorised prescriptions will be sent to the User by SMS or e-mail.

IMPORTANT:

Mediconanet.pt services should never be used in the event of a medical emergency, life-threatening situations or situations that require a physical examination and face-to-face contact with a healthcare professional.

This service does not replace the normal health care provided by Family Health Units or Hospitals and is not intended to respond to medical or psychological emergencies.

In emergency situations, the User should consult a health professional in person, go to the nearest hospital emergency service or call the national emergency number (112).

Outside the scope of the services provided by mediconannet.pt, all information on the various health issues in general is merely general information and is not directed at the situation in which the User finds him/herself as it cannot be personalised, so the application of these indications by the User to his/her specific case is his/her sole responsibility. mediconanet.pt is not responsible for the consequences of applying these indications to a specific case without medical supervision.

Use of the platform:

Video consultations require prior booking and require payment of the full consultation fee.

If technical difficulties arise during prior booking, the User should contact the helpdesk via chat or e-mail [email protected].

Use of the mediconanet.pt platform by minors or accompanied adults requires the consent of their legal representative at the time of prior booking.

The legal representative must start the consultation together with their representative and present a document proving their identity (e.g. ID card) and relationship with the User.

The User is responsible for the veracity, accuracy and authenticity of the data provided.

The User who makes an appointment for someone else is responsible for ensuring that the data provided is up-to-date and true, and that the person who will benefit from the online appointment agrees to the appointment and to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Upon receipt of the amount and issue of the respective invoice, a notification will be sent to the User confirming the scheduling of the desired appointment.

The User is responsible for guaranteeing the necessary conditions for using mediconanet.pt's services, such as a computer or mobile device with a camera and microphone, internet access, sufficient battery power, suitable software and a location with the necessary privacy conditions.

mediconanet.pt cannot be held responsible for any of the above conditions not being met and, if the service cannot be carried out due to a lack of the necessary conditions, reserves the right not to refund or reschedule the service.

The health professional will start the consultation on the scheduled date and time, and the consultation room may be opened up 5 minutes in advance.

The Patient must access the room and ask to enter at the scheduled time.

A tolerance of 7 minutes after the scheduled time is given.

In the event of a delay without prior notice, and after the grace period, the appointment will be cancelled without a refund.

The User expressly declares that all the information they provide is correct, true and complete and that they are fully responsible for it.

MNN Médico na Net, Lda shall not be held liable in any way whatsoever should the User provide incorrect, false or incomplete information to its services and professionals.

The User undertakes to immediately inform the doctors at mediconanet.co.uk of any side effects of the treatment and any other problems arising from the treatments provided through the website.

The User agrees to inform their family doctor about the medicines supplied and the advice given through the website.

The medication is prescribed according to the information that the User provides to our doctors via the website or by messages sent to mediconanet.pt by e-mail, WhatsApp or telephone.

The User accepts that the site's advice is not a substitute for their family doctor and undertakes to consult their family doctor and other health professionals when advised by our doctors and as necessary.

We cannot be held responsible for any damage that may arise if you do not inform your family doctor or other health professional about the treatment or advice you receive on the website.

We cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from failure to comply with the advice given on the website.

In the event that the User does not fully understand the questions in the evaluation part of the site or is unsure how to answer these questions, or does not fully understand the advice or information addressed to them on the site, they are obliged to seek clarification from the doctors on the site.

The User agrees that any medication prescribed by the site's doctors will be exclusively for their personal consumption and not for any other person and undertakes not to provide any such medication to any other person.

The User agrees that, before taking any medication prescribed by our doctors, they will read all the information that the doctor has given them, both online and in printed form.

The User agrees that they will read the manufacturer's User Information Leaflet that accompanies the medicine and that they will follow all the advice that the dispensing pharmacist gives them.

Prescriptions are issued entirely at the doctor's discretion.

mediconanet.co.uk cannot guarantee that a consultation with a doctor on mediconanet.co.uk will result in the issue of a prescription and/or request for an examination or certificate.

Online enquiries made electronically from this Website will be attended to by a Doctor as soon as possible.

Mediconanet.co.uk is an online consultation service that relies on third-party networks and technology for communication and we cannot guarantee the time of arrival of consultation information to a doctor or absolutely guarantee that it will arrive.

If any of these terms are deemed invalid or unenforceable, the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.

Personal details:

The User gives his consent for his personal data, namely about his health, his medical history and the information that the User discloses as part of the online consultation evaluation to be visualised and exchanged by and between employees and the duly identified Mediconanet.co.uk doctor and for the purposes of carrying out the medical consultation.

The User understands that their personal information may be exchanged electronically.

MNN Médico na Net, Lda reserves the right to contact the User directly in order to convey information within the scope of the services provided by the professionals who collaborate with the mediconanet.pt platform, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

 

Payments:

The User is responsible for providing valid credit or debit card details and, by doing so, is authorising MNN Médico na Net, Lda to receive full payment for the service and guarantees that they are authorised to use the card.

The prices charged by MNN Médico na Net, Lda are clearly displayed on the mediconanet.pt website.

Refund policy:

Video consultations:

Online video consultations can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge if requested more than 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Users will be charged in full for any appointments cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment start time.

Users can cancel a video consultation online themselves.

All requests for rescheduling must be made by e-mail to [email protected].

Refunds, if applicable, can only be made to the original credit or debit card and take between 1 and 10 working days to process.

 

Online prescription services:

Cancellation and refund requests for online prescription services can be made within 3 hours from the time the purchase was made, or 3 hours on the next working day if the purchase was made outside our normal opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 8pm).

Please note that refunds can only be made to the original credit or debit card and take between 1 and 10 working days to process.

Once the Cancellation Period has ended, and if our doctors have issued a prescription for the User, no refund will be allowed.

If our doctors refuse your prescription request because it is considered unsafe and/or medically inappropriate for you, you will be offered a safe alternative (if available) or provided with an action plan for your specific clinical situation.

Please note that refunds can only be made to the original credit or debit card and take between 1 and 10 working days to process.

Access to and use of this website outside the context of personal, non-commercial functions is strictly prohibited.

Consultations:

Online consultations consist of consultations made by video call on the iMED platform. This platform has been assessed by our Data Protection Officer (EPD/DPO) as adequate from the point of view of compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the right to privacy of the parties involved.

All the user needs to do is activate a link that will be sent once the date and time have been set. Alternatively, the consultation can also be carried out by telephone if the User so requests, except for issuing medical certificates.

The identity of the patient is confirmed by the health professional at the beginning of each consultation.

Consultations will be carried out in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French, depending on the user's preference.

During the consultation, you will be given all the relevant health information regarding your clinical situation, as well as clarification regarding the possible medication prescribed. Prescriptions will be sent to your email address or by SMS.

It's very important that you explain your entire medical history and don't omit any information, otherwise the diagnosis could be delayed or altered.

The clinical decision of the health professional is based on the information provided by the User, and therefore the truthfulness and accuracy of this information is an essential condition for the provision of adequate care. mediconanet.pt is not responsible for situations arising from false, inaccurate or outdated information provided by the User.

NOTE: Accompaniment is on an individual basis (with exceptions such as group psychology consultations or when there is a request from the User authorised by the health professional, or when suggested by the health professional with the User's due authorisation).

Without prejudice, the health professional may refuse to continue the consultation if the User does not comply with the established rules, tries to obtain medication for sale or inappropriate use, insults or threatens the health professional, does not have the minimum conditions necessary to carry out the consultation, does not provide a calm, quiet environment with a high degree of confidentiality, or for other reasons that make the health professional uncomfortable. If the User does not have a good internet connection and the online consultation is not feasible, the professional reserves the right to terminate the consultation and reschedule or terminate the consultation by telephone call.

After each service, you will have the opportunity to leave comments for the other professional with whom you had the online consultation. Your comment must be brief and may not contain discriminatory, offensive or defamatory language. Comments are not checked by mediconanet.co.uk for accuracy and may be incorrect or misleading.

Answers to questions and opening hours:

All contacts must be made exclusively by email ([email protected]) or via the chat available on our website. Questions will not be answered by other means (social networks, in particular), nor will questions asked on non-working days (public holidays, weekends or holidays) or if they are, answers may be sent with a delay of at least 10 working days. 

For the purpose of replying to emails and messages on the platform, our customer service is open on working days from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm (mainland Portugal time).

mediconanet.co.uk has taken great care in preparing the content of this website. To the fullest extent permitted by law, mediconanet.co.uk disclaims all warranties of any kind with regard to the content of this website.

Violation of the content of these Terms and Conditions implies immediate termination of the User's access to the site, as well as, if applicable, recourse to the courts.

MNN Médico na Net, Lda reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions without prior notification.

The amended Terms and Conditions take effect from the date they are published on this website.

The User is obliged to check the Terms and Conditions whenever visiting this website and continued access and use of the website represents tacit acceptance of the amended Terms and Conditions.

Exclusive jurisdiction of Portuguese courts

The Site was created and is controlled by mediconanet.pt in Portugal.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of Portugal.

The User accepts the exclusive jurisdiction of the Portuguese Courts for the judgement of all conflicts arising from the use of this website and its Terms and Conditions.

Biography

Dr Alexandra Azevedo graduated in Medicine from the University of Barcelona in 2015, where she subsequently specialised in General Practice. During her training, she developed a strong interest in the approach to chronic pain, having completed an integrated master's degree in Medicine and Surgery with clinical research into pain management. Her professional experience includes several years of clinical practice in Spain, particularly in Catalonia, where she has had contact with a wide variety of pathologies and challenges, both in the emergency department and in primary healthcare.

She currently works as a family doctor at the ULS Braga. She has been a member of the medical-surgical emergency team at Vila Nova de Famalicão Hospital and has worked as a guest lecturer at the Nursing School of the University of Minho, teaching anatomy and physiology of the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems.

Her main clinical interests include emergency medicine, chronic pain, depression and anxiety, as well as preventive medicine and the control of vascular risk factors. She is also dedicated to anti-smoking counselling and weight loss counselling, helping her patients to adopt healthier lifestyle habits. Her approach to care is based on a holistic vision, considering health as a balance between physical and psychological well-being.

Dr Alexandra stands out for her humanism and her ability to offer quick and effective solutions to minor problems, ensuring that her patients feel well looked after. At Médico na Net, she sees an opportunity to bring healthcare to more people in an accessible and convenient way.
